Augustin Meaulnes, an otherworldly dreamer, meets a young woman Yvonne de Galais at a party somewhere in a lost domain, whom he falls hopelessly in love with, so much that he no longer pays attention to his relatives in daily life. Has he imagined everything? Later, accompanied by his friend François, he will try in vain to find the paradise place and the beautiful lady.
