France, 1965, one of the suburbs of Lyon called Chaâba. Poor immigrants settle in this district, because housing costs are lowest there. A poor Algerian father wants his nine-year-old son Omar to be the best in school, as illiterate he has to rely solely on construction work. Unfortunately, Omar is not that talented at school.
