Le Dernier Seigneur des Balkans plot

Zülfikâr, son of a powerful leader in the Balkans, is raised in his cousin's family. There he is taught all manners appropriate to his rank. After completing his studies at the university in Salonique, he returns to his hometown in the mountains. Here he meets Esma, a miller's daughter, someone he can remember from when he was very small. The two get together and one day Zülfikâr suddenly leaves, because he is angry about something. He leaves and does not know at that moment that Esma is pregnant with him. Unwilling to endure the shame of a single mother, Esma decides to marry Mustafa. Zülkifâr tries to forget Esma by marrying Myriam, a Jewish refugee...
