Lazarus plot
Lazar, an orphaned child from Mozambique, ends up illegally with a wealthy Polish couple living in England. The artistic man and his boozy wife had "ordered" a Latin American child to solve the lingering problems in their family. And Lazar clearly doesn't live up to their expectations: he comes from Africa, is much older than they would have liked and also doesn't behave like they dreamed of a foster child. He reacts aggressively and unruly. Only the father, a calm Polish soul, has any hold over the boy. Their child is no longer a child; behind its sweet facade hide hideous memories of a brutal war. That becomes clear when Lazar, blindfolded from a game, sinks into a traumatic memory. Then the boy runs away from home...
