La Reine Blanche plot

1960. Jean Ripoche lives with his wife Liliane and their 4 children in a coastal village near Nantes. He divides his time between his plumbing business and making a boat for the Carnival of Nantes on which the "Queen of Nantes" sits. Orderly family life is turned upside down when Jean's former friend Yvon returns with his wife and 3 children after a 20-year absence. Yvon was also Jean's rival for Liliane at the time. Old memories come back and when Yvon also suggests that his daughter Michelle should join Jean's boat at the carnival as "Queen of Nantes" (just like Liliane used to be), tensions quickly rise.
