La Princesa de Éboli plot
Inspired by the story of Ana de Mendoza (Belén Rueda), nicknamed the Princess of Eboli; a woman ahead of her time and the center of attention at the court of King Felipe II (Eduard Fernández) in the sixteenth century. A widow and mother of ten children, she begins a passionate affair with Antonio Pérez (Hugo Silva), the king's secretary. She enjoys the trust, respect and love of the king from whom, after a brief affair, she even secretly had a child. Using her influence at court, she meddles in state affairs and does not hesitate to go against political and ecclesiastical power. But knowing how the king feels about her, she fears his reaction should he ever find out about the relationship.
