La Maison Tellier plot
At the end of the 19th century, Madame Odile is in charge of Maison Tellier, where she houses a number of ladies of easy virtue. Her clientele consists of regulars, a number of prominent local people and passing sailors. One day she receives an invitation to her niece's First Communion. She doesn't want to leave her tenants alone and decides to take them with her and pretends they are the saleswomen from her clothing business. The short time in the countryside stirs up a lot for the women and they start dreaming about a different life…
