Matteo is a vagabond and a born teller of captivating stories, a true poet. Safia is a prostitute, the most beautiful of the house run by Rosina in Sfax. When Matteo meets Safia, he sees in her one of the dream creatures from his stories and he immediately falls madly in love with her. Safia is impressed by his feelings.
