La Hembrita plot

Set against the backdrop of an upper-class neighborhood in the Dominican Republic, “La Hembrita” paints a disturbing picture of Dominique, a middle-aged woman, and her bond with her family members, servants and entourage. Her privileges and hidden desires quickly become clear. As a woman whose identity is strongly tied to her role, Dominique realizes that she is alone after her children leave home. One day the maid brings her granddaughter, but shortly afterwards she disappears for obscure reasons. The little girl awakens Dominique's maternal instincts – but neither friends nor relatives seem to think it's a good idea to keep the child.
