Five years ago, the girl Jeanne Fabre shocked all of France when she reported a brutal assault on the Paris metro. The country burst at the seams when the alleged perpetrators also had anti-Semitic motives. The film tells the story of that terrible lie. And also what it does to the media and society.

Part 1/ the circumstances.
Part 2/ the consequences.
Part 1 is strong.
Jeanne's life, her meeting Frank, the start and evolution of their relationship, living together and their shared job...: it is all depicted quite simply and soberly (though very colorful) – but with an underlying tension that constantly builds; you feel that something is about to happen (nb: I hadn't read the synopsis, so I had no idea where the story was going).
It was not clear to me why the Bleistein family was featured.
Part 2 drags the film's overall score down. Even though it involves 'serious facts', it is all portrayed very lightly; Jeanne chatters about it as if she were talking about a neighborhood party from the week before. As a viewer, I experienced this as a distant affair – with the scene in the log cabin as the exception, a moment when the film's appeal resurfaces.
Added to that—and that might well be due to my low IQ—I found/find it particularly difficult to link parts 1 and 2; they seem like two different films. Three, even, because with part 2 too, I questioned the importance of the Bleistein family's involvement, and the past of the lawyer and Jeanne's mother. So, definitely worth a part 3.
Excellent acting from the whole cast, but especially from Michel Blanc; rarely have I seen anyone portray such a realistic image of a lawyer.

The first part is still decent, but gradually this story, which makes you shrug your shoulders, bogs down. It says far too little, which is made very clear in the weak second part. You see little of her lies, and the consequences are also worked out very superficially. Fortunately, the film has a decent cast, but even they cannot save the film. 4/10

The film certainly has its good passages, but for a long time I wondered where it was actually going and what I should focus on.
The circumstances that led to the "lie" have been discussed more broadly than what it was actually about, and that feels a bit off.
