La Colonna Infame plot

Fear and superstition surrounding the plague epidemic of the 17th century in Milan lead to a politically manipulated witch-hunt for the 'spreaders' of the disease. Two men plead guilty after lengthy trials and torture and are executed as an appeasing distraction for the growing resistance among the population.
