La Belle Occasion plot

There is a funfair on a vacant lot on the edge of a small town in the south of the province of France. A woman, Sarena, sells cotton candy. She is beautiful, her face is hard. Her younger brother, Ravi, speaks poor French and accompanies girls for a ride on a small pony. Their father, an old Russian man who is weak and ill, lives in the motor home, which is their home. He broods and grumbles while lying on a mattress most of the time. Ravi meets a girl, Mathilde, an heiress who lives a little outside the city in a beautiful building overlooking nature. She is an orphan and alone. She begins a troubled friendship with Ravi, fascinated by his sister, and invites them to settle in her house.
