L'Oro del Reno plot
In the picturesque region of Emilia-Romagna, a little-known river meanders serenely between the plains and hills. The Reno shares its name and perhaps even its fame with the mighty German Rhine, so Japanese Wagner enthusiasts once mistakenly thought that the river was the inspiration for his greatest opera, “Das Rheingold”. A young filmmaker is commissioned by a local politician to write an ode to the wonders of this river and reluctantly sets off. His journey, from its source in the Apennines to the Adriatic Sea, takes on the feel of a Wagnerian quest full of hidden treasures and unexpected stories.
