L'Enfant des Lumières plot

France before the revolution. Countess Diane de Breyves' world collapses when her husband takes his own life. Reason for his suicide is the fact that he has lost all his fortune. Diane flees with her son Alexis to her castle "La Commanderie" in the Creuse. For years she harbors a grudge against those who have confiscated her husband's property and thus have his death on their conscience. When Alexis turns 18, she believes the time has come to take revenge with the help of her son.
