Lelouch's 50th film, announced to much fanfare, describes itself as "a not-so-dramatic comedy". You could also describe it as a “not so comical drama”, because it just doesn't want to be funny or touching. Lelouch is mainly concerned with giving as many of his loyal cast members a role as possible and filled the screenplay with reflections on growing old in this superficial, self-righteous and (therefore) disappointing anniversary film. The story also concerns an elderly criminal [Gérard Darmon] who is told that he has only months to live and unknowingly comes into contact with escort Sandrine [Sandrine] through his friends Ary [Ary Abittan, Philippe Lellouche] Bonnaire] who has to brighten up his last days of life and falls hopelessly in love with him. It ripples along at its leisure and does not bore, but that is about all.

Now that Trintignant is gone and Anouk Aimée, who will be 91 next week, seems a bit too old, Claude Lelouche, for his 50th film, calls on Sandrine Bonnaire and Gérard Darmon, both excellent, and also pays tribute, in a short or one long flash from past films to actors he worked with.
"Hopefully not too dramatic a comedy," he says, and it certainly isn't because there are plenty of funny scenes (the friends' request to Sandrine is brilliant in dialogue - "we're not smart enough to investigate, so, with the dice"- ).
It is Lelouiche to the fullest. Playful nonsense taken alongside reflections from life, striking remarks and pointed dialogues.
Do not expect a well-founded, homogeneous film in terms of script, editing ... but watch it in fractions with several wonderful, more nuanced moments that can still be experienced as film fun.
An escort madam who falls in love with a dying elderly man;. you shrug your shoulders, but Lelouche made the best of it, even though the ending is too long-winded.
This director has never disappointed me and I usually gave his films more points than the average and again I let myself drift with the style "Lelouch".
