Ku Nao Ren De Xiao plot
The honest reporter Fu Bin's naive devotion to truth pits him directly against his opportunistic colleagues, and certainly against the hypocritical officials who shamelessly exploited his journalistic ethics for ideological motives during the Cultural Revolution in China. An honest surgeon who is forced to work as a porter in his hospital is ritually humiliated in front of Fu Bin, who is forced to write an article in favor of the surgeon's assailants. Fu's professional and ethical conflicts eventually threaten both his work and his family life, as his mental struggles reach the discursive level.
