When maid Ah Ngor becomes pregnant with her master Chan Ying-kit, she has no choice but to give the baby up for adoption as she cannot take care of him. The head of the hospital decides to take the baby home to make him forget the loss of his wife and calls him San. The years pass and the doctor remarries Lucy. However, when she gives birth to a son, she hates her adopted stepson and forces her husband to give him up for adoption. As a result, San ends up with a poor but loving family, but he has trouble adjusting to the new circumstances.
