Krapp's Last Tape plot

Old man Krapp assesses his life and evaluates his predicament as, on his 69th birthday, in preparation for his annual speech to himself, he listens to the tape he recorded on his 39th birthday. On the "terrible occasion" of his birthday, Krapp has a habit of reviewing the past year, separating the wheat from the chaff. He views the tape from his 39th year with a mixture of shame, regret and sentiment.
