Kissinger and Nixon plot

It's time for the 1972 US presidential election and President Nixon is leading the polls. Henry Kissinger, the architect of Nixon's foreign policy policy, is working hard to diplomatically end the Vietnam War as soon as possible. But Nixon doesn't want the war to end until after his expected reelection. Were they both trying to steer history in a way that made the most of themselves?
