Kinokawa plot
The story of three generations of women in an aristocratic family through the Meiji, Taisho and Showa periods. In 1899, 22-year-old Hana travels to the Kino River to marry Keisaku, the son of the aristocratic Shintani family. Her life changes as she struggles to adjust to the way of life in this new family of distinguished origins. She gives birth to a daughter, Fumio. Fumio is inspired by modern ideas at school and, much to her parents' dismay, becomes actively involved in the feminist movement.
