Kinder der Landstraße plot

The gypsy family Kessel manages to reach the Swiss border just in time at the outbreak of the Second World War. There, however, the children Jana and Django are separated from their parents and placed under guardianship. After the war, Jana ends up with the Mauerhofer family, where she is not very happy and fears that her parents have forgotten her. However, she does not know that the boss of the aid organization is preventing her parents from finding her. After overcoming many obstacles, she sees her parents again, but this meeting ends in great disappointment.
