Kemba plot

College student Kemba Smith falls in love with a man who turns out to be a drug lord. After she finds out, he becomes abusive and makes Kemba turn a blind eye to his illegal activities. Even though she never dealt drugs, Kemba receives a harsh sentence for her boyfriend's crimes. Her parents and a lawyer from the NAACP Legal Defense Fund mount a campaign to appeal the case and later win clemency. They harness the power of black community organizations, fraternities, celebrities, and legislators to get Kemba freed.
