Kejsarn av Portugallien plot
Sweden, late 19th century. In the small village of Skrolykan, farmer Jan (Ingvar Hirdwall) leads a hard and sober life. Klara-Fina (Cecilia Ljung), his daughter, is his pride. When the farm is struggling financially, Klara-Fina goes to work in Stockholm, but she doesn't tell us exactly what she does. The gruff landlord threatens with expulsion and the proud farmer does not know what to do with the rumors that his daughter has ended up in prostitution. Jan gets sick of it and to make the misery bearable he builds up his own dream world; in it he is the Emperor of Portugallia, who eagerly awaits the return of his Empress Klara-Fina.
