Karjolsteinen plot

An old Protestant pastor has lost his faith as a result of all kinds of dramatic events. When he goes to visit his dying wife in a hospital, he happens to meet a young writer, who is also a leftist militant, who has come to visit a party member in the same clinic. Both men spend the evening together. It turns out that the young intellectual is also tormented by doubts and he identifies more and more with the old pastor.
