Kakuu no Inu to Uso wo Tsuku Neko plot
The year is 1988. Yamabuki is an eight-year-old boy growing up in a traditional family where each member has problems and secrets they keep hidden from each other. The father runs a bankrupt construction company and is in an intimate relationship with another woman. The mother struggles with severe depression, unable to cope with the death of her youngest child. The grandfather, a former civil engineer, hopes to build an amusement park, but fails. The grandmother runs a small shop selling counterfeit goods. The sister, fed up with her relatives' lies, seeks a way to run away from home. Amidst all this chaos, Yamabuki finds solace in petting an imaginary dog.
