Kafes plot

1980. These are turbulent times for Turkey. On September 12, the military staged another coup, this time led by Kenan Evren. Before that, political coalitions followed one another in rapid succession, while the economy suffered heavily from the terror of both the far left and far right. Evren imposes martial law on the population, bans political parties and has the Kurdish separatists and left-wing opposition persecuted. These are bad times for love, yet Mehmet falls in love with Elif, despite their very different political beliefs.
