Jing Zhe plot

Ermei lives in a small village in northern China. Her family is very poor and decides to marry her off to Zhang Suo for the dowry. Ermei is deeply unhappy and flees. In a nearby town, she finds work in a restaurant and meets her old friend Maonu. Maonu introduces her to Liansheng. They fall in love, but Liansheng also has other girlfriends. Disappointed, Ermei returns to her village and to Zhang Suo.
