Jenseits der Brandung plot
Press photographer Paul (Thomas Kretschmann) returns depressed from a mission in the fray of the former Yugoslavia. To recover a bit, he moves in with Therese (Maria De Medeiros), a girlfriend who owns a small hotel on the Breton coast. Here he meets Morgaine (Claudia Michelsen), a mysterious woman, whom he falls in love with. He is curious about her backgrounds and tries to learn a thing or two about her. He can not get it done. During a boat trip, a storm breaks out and they capsize. Paul is rescued in the nick of time, but there is no trace of Morgaine. A few miles away, a ferry is wrecked in the raging storm. Here a young woman who resembles Morgaine is rescued. She suffers from amnesia.
