Jealousy plot
"Jealousy - That terrible form of envy that makes a woman destroy her own happiness and that of others"
When her bankrupt father commits suicide, Anne Baxter seeks solace with Roland Carney, a wealthy stockbroker, despite her love for a poor artist who has abandoned her. Anne and Carney make a deal to have a loveless marriage, but when Carney finds the artist in his wife's bedroom, he leaves her. After divorcing Carney, Anne takes to the stage as a dancer. She soon meets and marries Peter Martin, a millionaire. Anne then tries to undermine Carney's marriage to socialite Agnes Maynard, but her plan backfires, and a disappointed Martin drags her down the stairs and throws her out.
