Jazz in the Diamond District plot
When Jasmine 'Jazz' Morgan loses her mother to lung cancer, she can only think of one thing. Become a famous singer. Against the wishes of her father Blair Morgan, a doctor who would rather she go back to college, Jazz spends the summer in Washington DC's sex-crazed, drug-influenced music scene where she drags her younger but more naive sister into it. One night, Jazz is invited to audition for a popular Go-go band led by a charismatic hairdresser. Very easily she works herself in the band and falls in love with the stage. The band becomes immensely popular, but just as quickly as its success, the pressure mounts for Jazz. She recklessly tries to control herself.
