Jan auf der Zille plot
After the police tell 13-year-old Jan that his communist father is wanted for the murder of an SA officer, only Max, whose father is part of an underground resistance group, wants to hang out with him. Max promises to help Jan find out what really happened, but during an anti-fascist meeting there is a raid and Max is shot. Jan barely manages to escape and has only one clue: a man on a barge knows where his father is.
