Jacqueline Susann's Valley of the Dolls plot
Three different women come to New York to build a showbiz career, but are faced with all kinds of setbacks. Ann Welles (Catherine Hicks) is a young, ambitious entertainment lawyer. Her roommate Neely O'Hara (Lisa Hartman) has the voice for a successful singing career, but is very insecure and dependent on drink and drugs. Emerging model Jennifer North (Veronica Hamel) has to deal with an abortion and breast cancer.
