In the late 1930s-1940s, the kind-hearted veterinarian James Herriot takes care of animals that are not feeling well. Besides the daily problems with goats, dogs, cats, goldfish and larger animals, he also has to deal with the beautiful and pregnant Mrs. Herriot, his grumpy older partner Siegfried Farnon and the many eccentric rural residents.
