Sixteen-year-old Xtra Keys lives by a few simple rules, all rooted in a world of brutal retaliatory violence. His survival depends on his ability to be tough, unemotional and impenetrable with everyone. Only his son is excluded from this harsh personality. Xtra hopes to raise his son better than his alcoholic mother raised him. He gets his chance to prove it when Xtra finds himself in the world of the Hive, an unorthodox alternative school full of other discarded boys. For them it is a last chance before they end up in prison.
