Imitations of Life plot

Psychoanalysis-inspired video essay on how we shape and make sense of our lives and childhood. Hoolboom cites Freud's thoughts on how people deal with their childhood memories and how they rarely arise spontaneously and authentically, but rather are developed and distorted over time. The 10-part essay includes 'Jack', in which Hoolboom films his nephew Jack in front of the mirror and reflects on the mirror stage of Lacan (fundamentalist Freudian philosopher).
