Ibo Kyoudai plot
Rie starts working as a housekeeper for the brutal Lieutenant Hantaro. He soon rapes her and as a result she becomes pregnant by him. Hantaro's ailing wife Tsuta dies, leaving him with two young sons. Hantaro marries Rie for image only, but continues to treat her like a maid, favoring the sons of his first marriage over Tomohide and Yoshitoshi, the sons he had with Rie. Then war breaks out and all the sons are called up for military service.
