I'll Be Gone in June plot
In 2001, 16-year-old Franny travels from Germany to America as an exchange student, but ends up not in the bustling New York of her dreams, but in a sleepy town in the New Mexico desert shortly after 9/11. There, she wanders through stifling school days and loneliness until she meets Elliott, a boy with the same quiet melancholy. In the arid landscape, a tender bond grows between them, doomed to fade as soon as the summer ends.
