Bad experiences have turned journalist Scoop McGuire into a misogynist when he is taken in a taxi by his friend Cookie Smith. He is accompanied by a strange woman. Despite being surprised, Scoop, who has lost his job at the hands of his rival Powell, agrees to take the woman to his apartment. There Scoop finds out that the woman is Anne Meredith. Anne is a notorious fugitive wanted for the murder of her husband. Convinced of Anne's innocence, Scoop secretly cooperates to dress her up as an entertainer and then take her to a new hideout. Scoop, meanwhile increasingly attracted to Anne, must now battle his misogyny and Powell, who wants to discover Anne's true identity.
