I Am a Good Person/I Am a Bad Person plot

Filmmaker Ruby White leaves her husband and son in Toronto and embarks on a tour of European film festivals with her eighteen-year-old daughter Sara as her assistant. Ruby is full of uncertainty, does not listen to her daughter and is so preoccupied with herself that there is a distance between mother and daughter. During a screening in the UK, a visitor asks Ruby a question that makes her so suspicious that the mother-daughter relationship plummets to zero. Ruby travels to Berlin for another screening, while Sara decides to visit her aunt in Paris. Now that the two women are alone and miserable, they find themselves confronted with secrets that they have kept hidden from the other all along.
