His People plot
Two brothers, Sammy and Morris Cominsky, are sons of poor Jewish immigrants. They choose completely different paths to realize their American dream against the backdrop of New York in the 1920s. Tough but good-natured Sammy decides to become an award-winning fighter to pay for his older brother's law school and take some of the financial burden off the family's shoulders. Because Sammy leaves his parents ignorant of the fact that he has become a prize fighter, he fights under the name "Kid Rooney". However, a curious neighbor betrays him and his Orthodox father is horrified. Meanwhile, Sammy's older brother Morris, who makes a fast-paced career in a three-piece suit, is so ashamed of his shabby family and their "old world" customs that he bills himself as an orphan. But the prize-fighting brother will soon have to save the entire family in a decisive battle. Will he succeed?
