"There is no turning back at the top of the world."
After a difficult ascent of Kangchenjunga, Hong-gil and Mu-taek become friends. Their career peaks when they become the fourteenth team to climb the Himalayas, but this came at a price: both suffered injuries and Hong-gil was forced to retire. Now years later, Hong-gil is a renowned teacher and Mu-taek takes on the task of climbing Everest. When he goes missing, Hong-gil blames himself for encouraging Mu-taek's plans and decides to assemble a team to retrieve the body from the mountain. Despite the warnings, his injured leg and the storms, Hong-gil is determined to lead the expedition.
