Het Meisje met de Blauwe Hoed plot

When grocer's son Daan Pieters (Huib Rooymans) signs up for the army with some reluctance, he meets a nice frivolous girl with a striking blue hat (Jenny Arean) on the train. In the barracks he is placed in the hall next to the funny folk figure Toontje Bulthuis (André van Duin), who flouts all soldier rules. When the two go out together, they meet the girl in the blue hat again. Her name is Betsy and Daan falls for her like a rock.
