I Doulia Tis plot
Thirty-seven-year-old Panayiota lives a quiet, modest life with her husband, a domineering man who forfeits his meager unemployment benefits in gambling dens, her rebellious teenage daughter and her sensitive younger son. Panayiota is servile and sacrifices himself. She is trapped in a domestic environment that prevents her from gaining independence. One day she has the chance to work as a cleaning lady in a nearby shopping center and she feels the excitement of a new life. She soon becomes an excellent employee, gains financial independence and expands her social life beyond the walls of her apartment. At home, the family watches with respect for Panayiota's growing freedom. But her newfound autonomy is at stake after a series of layoffs at work.
