Some landscapes are so affected that they make their inhabitants strange and lonely. For example, Honghae has this effect on Ji-Young, a female artist who has the feeling of being a man. She blames her secret as a transsexual existence on the wasteland where she grew up in the Philippines. There she met the shy Rain, through an agency specializing in getting South Asian mail-order brides for Koreans.
