Heimatmuseum plot

The story covers a period of more than fifty years and begins in the Masuren, in East Prussia. Zygmunt is the son of a pill-turner, who is killed in the Russian invasion in World War I. Conny and Edith are the children of the director of the local prison, who ends up in a Russian prisoner of war and dies. Left to their own devices, the trio embark on the arduous road of adulthood.
