Heartwood plot
"Life will teach you to stand tall"
Deroy is picture-perfect California, where an old sawmill is run by Logan and his young protégé Frank. Frank is a pariah in the village community, but he shares Logan's love for the trade. Then summer arrives and a romance blossoms between Frank and the manager's daughter, Sylvia.
