Hearts of Men plot

In Cologne, Germany, Fritz Wagner develops a new fragrance at the perfume factory where he works with his best friend, Adolph Rapp. One night, Adolph steals the formula and leaves town. Years later, Fritz moves his family to the United States and sends his son, Hans, to a local school. Unable to speak English well, Hans is helped in class by Amy Rapp, and the two children quickly become good friends. Fritz has a chance meeting with Adolph, now a prominent American perfumer, and accuses him of the theft. During the ensuing argument, Fritz discovers that Amy is the daughter of his rival.
