Hannan Xia Ri plot
Thirteen-year-old Guo, who lives with her selfish cousin, an ever-tired aunt, and her family, wants to live with her newly remarried mother in Shanghai. When a friend drowns while playing with Guo by the river, Guo disappears in shock. Yu, who likes Guo, knows she was there that day, but Yu's crush just makes Guo uncomfortable. Neglected by an irresponsible mother and living with an unkind aunt, Guo battles the adult world through a series of events that a thirteen-year-old cannot possibly handle.
