Gypsy is a 25-year-old Stevie-Nicks copy, with the same scarves and frills and singing ambitions. The difference is that compared to Stevie she is quite fat and has a fierce Gothic image. The 18-year-old Clive has taken on the image of Robert Smith and, together with Gyspy, he stands out very much in Sandusky, a hole somewhere in the American Mid-West. Clive thinks she wants to be with Gypsy, but that's only because there aren't any other Gay Goths within 1000 miles, and besides, Gypsy isn't interested. Gypsy wants nothing more than to leave the village. When Clive and Gypsy learn there's a look-alike contest in New York, the annual "Night of a 1000 Stevies," they head out in an old Trans-Am. Along the way, they encounter even stranger characters than themselves. When they finally arrive in New York, there are a lot of Stevies and a lot of Gay Goths walking around.
