Green Days by the River plot

"The formative years of a boy growing up on the island."

With his father seriously ill, Shellie acquires a surrogate father figure in wealthy plantation owner Mr. Gidharee, and is torn between his seductive half-Indian daughter Rosalie and the charms of the more down-to-earth Joan, a girl who hails from out of town. But does Shellie really have a choice, or was there a trap set for him from the start?
